Some examples of Jack Pransky's seminars, workshops and trainings, adjusted and adapted to meet your needs, are provided below. These workshops and trainings or other adaptations can be brought to you, wherever you are located, upon request.NEHRI also provides a long-term professional training program for people who want to apply this understanding in work with communities, organizations, groups, parents, schools, and others through applying the Health Realization approach.
Living in Well-Being: Three Principles I
This 2 1/2 day training is an exploration into the inside-out nature of change. Its purpose is for people to gain an experience with the principles behind Health Realization. In essence, it is an understanding of three principles that combine to create people's experience of life. Studies show that people who gain this understanding tend to become more peaceful, clear-headed, more content and less stressed. Their relationships with their children and families improve. They are less affected by problems and less likely to engage in problem behaviors such as substance abuse, violence, teenage pregnancy, etc. Communities affected by the Three Principles have shown extraordinary reductions in these and other problems.
Three Principles II: Applications
The purpose of this 2 day training is for people who have had a personal experience with the Three Principles to both deepen their understanding and learn how the Three Principles are applied in community and organizational settings as a prevention approach. Topics will include: 1) changes that have occurred in people's lives and why; 2) what does prevention from the inside-out really mean? 3) application steps of the Three Principles Community Empowerment process; 4) more practice in deep listening as a foundation in working with others; 5) deeper exploration of the Three Principles; 6) answering questions about problems that have arisen or that can be anticipated in the future.
Preventive Care for the Mind: Removing Stress
Everyone wants to live with less stress and distress. Everyone wants to live in well-being. Everyone wants to have healthy relationships. The question is how to get there. The key lies in understanding the place where mind and spirit meet, to see life and its events with new perspective. This session will help participants see anew. It is a journey into the inner workings of the mind and soul. The only requirement is an open mind.
Parenting from the Heart
What is the basis for healthy, productive, satisfying relationships with our children? Ironically, the answer already can be found deep within our hearts. Thus, in its simplicity lies its power. Once realized, we do not have to rely on parenting techniques. By understanding and taking to heart a few key principles of what makes children (and parents) function as they do, parenting can become a true joy, as opposed to the difficult task that many of us have come to believe.
Teaching [or Coaching, or Caregiving, or Social Work, etc.] from the Heart
Imagine a classroom full of students motivated to learn and to behave well from within. Impossible? Not if they truly understand what lies in their hearts. The Three Principles make this connection. This approach helped turn around lives in low-income inner city housing projects and in school classrooms, reducing office discipline referrals and truancy. This session will help teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, and other school personnel apply the principles to themselves and in the classroom. This session is may also be adapted as Coaching from the Heart or Caregiving from the Heart or Social Work from the Heart, etc.
Prevention from the Inside-Out: Internal Resilience
This workshop explores what inside-out prevention really means, and what works to prevent problems such as domestic and other violence, child abuse, alcohol and drug abuse, crime, etc. While the concept of "resiliency" has propelled the effectiveness of the prevention field, the concept of internal resilience and how to work with it has been its most elusive aspect. Focus will be on what the prevention field has been lacking to date: an understanding of how to foster internal resilience. It will emphasize what appears to be the most effective inside-out prevention approach: The Three Principles.
A New Look at Violence Prevention
Research shows clearly that certain factors in the social environment contribute to violence, and certain factors protect people from succumbing to violence. While true, we still see vast differences in individual responses, even given similar environmental conditions. This suggests that a crucial variable is being left out of the equation that may hold the key to achieving greater efficacy in violence prevention. To help a person change who has a proclivity toward violence, or to prevent it in the first place, we must understand the internal ingredients that make someone respond violently. Once understood, people are in a position to see the ingredients for what they are and to do something about them. Without knowing what is going on, this is impossible. This session will present this understanding, and violence prevention programs will gain more efficacy as a result.
Spirituality and Prevention
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) pioneered the use of spirituality as an effective treatment tool. In prevention its use is less common but most effective. People who live by spiritual principles are not often those who abuse others or substances. Topics include: What has been missing in prevention; The meaning of "spirituality"; Spiritual Paths; What makes people change? Internal Resilience and Spirituality; Practical application of spirituality in prevention; Three spiritual principles we have been granted to create our lives; Where does health and well-being come from? What is our spiritual essence and how does it manifest in us? How can we apply spiritual principles to affect our and other people's behaviors? What does it mean to live in well-being, and how can we get there?
